Bebaloncar is a musical project born in 2021, blending new wave, psychedelia, and dark folk to create a lush, melancholic, and deeply evocative sound. The band was conceived by Scanna (vocals, guitar), a musician with a solid background in the Italian independent scene (Sciacalli, Primeteens, Pamela Tiffins, Bohemians, etc.).
The lineup is completed by Iris Martyr (guitar, backing vocals), Fab (bass), and the studio collaboration of Carlo Altobelli (percussion, synthesizers, drum machine, and sampler), essential elements in crafting the immersive and personal atmosphere that defines the band.
In 2022, their debut album Suicide Lovers was released, a work mixing dark wave, neo-folk, and shoegaze, enriched by collaborations with female musicians featured on every track playing classical instruments such as harp, violin, and cello. Initially distributed on colored vinyl in a limited edition of 400 copies via Rubber Soul, it was later released on CD. This work received great critical acclaim, being listed among the best albums of the year by publications like Blow Up.
In 2024, the second album Diary of a Lost Girl was released, a concept album inspired by silent cinema and themes such as loneliness, heartache, and broken dreams. Published on colored vinyl, again in a limited edition of 400 copies via Rubber Soul Records, and digitally via Silverdrop Recordings, the album was named among the top 100 albums of the year by Rumore, marking a profound evolution in the band’s artistic path. In 2025, one year after the original release, a limited edition CD version was distributed by 1Q84 Tapes, who had previously released a special collection of demos titled Death by Underground, characterized by different covers and bonus tracks—a tradition that also involved the debut album.
Alongside their recording activity, Bebaloncar have developed a strong visual component, collaborating with Bitpop Music Videos on the creation of the Hidden in You videoclip. The video integrates footage from the silent film Camille (1921) with live performances, thus enhancing the emotional impact of the track.
Additionally, four of the band’s songs were selected for the soundtrack of the documentary Rome As You Are, dedicated to Nirvana’s concerts in Italy.
Live, Bebaloncar stand out for engaging and intense performances, capable of transporting the audience on an intimate and emotional journey.
Currently, the band is working on a new album scheduled for 2025, a new chapter destined to leave a lasting impression.
